UGC Tips & Resources
Additional Tips
Profile, systems, community, data, trends, and common mistakes.
Profile Optimization
- Bio should say clearly what you post about and who it's for.
- Consistent profile photo and handle across platforms so people can find you more easily.
- Pin your best performing video to the top so new visitors see the strongest content first.
Content Systems
- Make 3-5 "content pillars" - Recurring themes or formats you can rotate through, instead of scrambling for a new idea every time.
- Build a signature element - A recurring intro line, transition, sign-off, or visual tic. Builds recognition and makes content feel like a series, not one-offs.
- Batch content when possible - Shoot multiple videos in one session rather than one-off shoots. Reduces burnout and keeps posting consistent even on slow weeks.
- Repurpose high performers - a video that did well is worth a sequel, a different angle, or a "part 2," not just a one-time win to move past.
Engaging with the Community
- Reply to comments, especially in the first hour - It drives visibility and also gives creators free content ideas (comment questions become the next video's hook).
- Ask a question in the caption or video that's easy to answer - Comments are a stronger signal than likes, and low-effort prompts ("tag your friend who does this") get real responses.
- Engage with other accounts in the niche, not just your own - Commenting thoughtfully on bigger accounts in the space puts you in front of a relevant audience.
Using Data Instead of Guessing
- Check analytics regularly, not just view count - Retention/completion rate matters more than raw views, since that's the strongest algorithm signal.
- Identify the drop-off point in videos that underperform - If people bail at 3 seconds, it's the hook; if they bail at 10, it's pacing in the middle.
- Track which content pillar or format is actually working and lean into it, rather than treating every idea as equal.
Trend Awareness
- Jump on trends fast - Relevance window on trending sounds/formats is usually just a few days before it feels stale.
- Adapt trends to the niche instead of copying them exactly - A trend applied generically underperforms one that's clearly reworked for the brand/niche.
- Don't force every trend - If it doesn't fit naturally, skip it. Forced trend content reads as try-hard and can actually hurt an account's niche consistency.
Common mistakes
- Deleting and reposting videos that don't perform right away - Most platforms need time to test distribution; yanking content early can hurt an account's trust signal.
- Editing captions/details after posting - Can suppress distribution on some platforms since it's read as manipulation.
- Chasing every platform's exact same content - A straight TikTok-to-Instagram repost (especially watermarked) underperforms content adapted per platform.
- Ignoring the "boring but real" performance data in favor of vibes - Creators often think a video is great and it flops, or think one is mid and it takes off. The data should guide the next one, not your gut.
